Tech Support Scam - German state attorney working together with Indian authorities

Tech Support ScamThe following press release shows that the Indian justice system is working together with foreign authorities for stopping Tech Support Scammers. For call centers has it coming more difficult to run such sham campaigns. On the one site they are getting scammed by buying he calls and on the other site the prosecutors are taking action against them. The case shows that victims of such a scam get at least the satisfaction that the scammers are ending up together with their landlords in jail.

Press release of the Prosecutor Osnabrück/Germany from September 5, 2016:

The Osnabrück Prosecutor's Office and the state criminal police in Hannover determine for some time against a group of online fraudsters who apparently operate from India.

The perpetrators explain in English that the user's computer is infected with a virus, the license expired, or the computer other problems having, and they provide the repair of the computer, the renewal of the license or the purchase of a security program to. Certain data from the computer are received from the callers, so that the victim believes that his PC was infected tat neuter. The perpetrators cause then the called one to download a remote control program that allows access to the computer. After allegedly made repairs, the alleged renewal of the license or the alleged uploading of a security program, the offender require a relatively small amount of money via online bank transfer. Once the called one has entered its financial data in a mask, increase the perpetrators the amount of money unnoticed. Victims are asked to pay before the repair amounts between € 180 and 250 by specifying the credit card number or bank transfer via Western Union. In a number of cases it is to get such payments.

In fact, the computer was never infected and in no case the license has been expired.

Refused the called one to pay at all or so much money, the perpetrators delete numerous data on the computer. In some cases, the computer got locked with a password.

The group opering this scam, the so-called Microsoft Technical Support calls, is a global player. In Niedersachsen, Germany, previously could 779 victims got determined. In whole of Germany at least 7647 people got scammed. This is however only to the so-called bright-field. The real figures will be much higher.

Very fast it became clear that the perpetrators are operating from call centers in India.  A international search order took place in May 2016 due to a search warrant of the District Court Osnabrück/Germany and Calcutta in India. At this search was attended by a prosecutor of the Prosecutor Osnabrück from the central office the fight against cybercrime three very experienced officers from the fields of investigation of the State Criminal Office Hannover, legal assistance and technology part. Cooperation with the police officers in India has been very successful. The Cybercrime special police in Calcutta and the Cybercrime nationality-violence in Calcutta supported the German colleagues intensively and competently through international legal assistance. In one of the searched during Operation Call Center 250 work places were found, from which the fraudulent calls got carried out.

According to the investigators fraudulent calls from all workplaces got carried out. The individual call centers were put out of service, all computers got seized. This had an impact on the number of noticeably cases: Immediately after the search, the criminal charges were very noticeably reduced and they have since not significantly risen since this time. According to the investigators, the call centers have been an important base of operations for the fraudulent calls.

7 accused are in India in prison. From these are 2 persons landlords of call centers and the other 5 are their operators. Prosecutors in Calcutta has opened a so-called mirror case and charged based on the information from the German authorities before an Indian court against the perpetrators.

LinkedIn profile picture from Kshitij TripathiI have described at my article Scammer: Apostotlebpo.In - Kshitij Tripathi - Gaurav Sharma how the centers are getting scammed. Here I describe now the way how a scammer tries to get campaigns which he can sell to others without doing some work by himself. A lot of people are dreaming about such an income possibility.

His standard answer "Nobody is paying for shit leads" is nothing else than a self protection. If he would run a real business he would provide a list of the leads together with the reason why the lead is a bad one. As scammers are lazy and everybody can see it in the Skype conversations, which I had with Kshitij Tripathi during one year where he is even too lazy to forward any proofs. He even don't try to get his money back by using the authorities, which he says that he got scammed for. This fact shows that he has only invented the stories and is not able to provide any proof for anything.

After publishing this article Kshitij Tripathi tried to defend himself at LinkedIn. By commenting he has forgotten that he declared himself in the Skype communication with me to be nothing else than a liar:

For the case that the above statement is not a lie for protecting himself (each proof is missing), then Kshitij Tripathi has lied in the following Skype communication with me, where he tried to make the impression of having a call center. In any case has Kshitij Tripathi confirmed that he is nothing else than a liar. A liar can never be a trusted business partner.

The following Skype communication with Kshitij Tripathi aka KT Robby (Skype: kt.robby) shows the way how he likes to get campaigns for his man-in-the-middle "business". The problem is only that he even don't know how a call center business is functioning and he repeats the same invented story again and again. He thinks that he can even sell some scammer stories to me. It seems that he even don't know that I need only to open the website from LinkedIn or Facebook and pick any random offer to get a source for a new article about a scammer. He has been even too lazy or not able to send me any proof for his stories, which he repeated every time he contacted me on Skype.

In the above communication Kshitij Tripathi proofs that he is even not able to use Google for searching and verifying offers. He even has been thinking that I'll do it for him for the reason that he is too lazy for it. Instead of taking a look at the provided links he thinks that it easier to ask me for campaigns on Skype.

Depending the on the way he tried to get campaigns from a real broker like Kathy Sisk Enterprises, he will get an answer or not. Normally are marketing agencies not entertaining some campaign brokers from abroad. There are so many call centers available, which are searching for some campaigns that there is no need to hire some people for reselling their campaigns. Campaigns are for call centers free of charge. There is no need to pay for someone, who is only additional announcing real campaigns.

For the case that he got really scammed from Mako Markeing LLC, then he did not make any background check about his client. In this case it seems that he has trusted only to the explanations from Omar and Italo Solari. Not one real millionaire will tell you that he is a millionaire. If he would have made a simple Google search he would have found at least one red flag about them in the Call Centers Forum:

I want to spread this info: Blacklist Mako Marketing LLC operated by Italo Solari and Omar Solari. These guys are fraud. They will not honor their payment obligations to call centers. Spread the word. The international call center community should be warned against them. Do not trust them. I will not waste my time with this if we were not defrauded by these persons. I just want to warn all other call centers who may be their current or future victims.

I have counted during a Google search in the year 2016 9 complaints from different centers posted on different platforms against the Scammer: apostotlebpo.in - Kshitij Tripathi - Gaurav Sharma in the year 2016. Blackmail the hobby that paysKrishna Varma does not know that blackmailing is a crime in each country. It is a pity that he got scammed, but that does not give him the right to become himself a criminal and blackmail others which have nothing to do with his case. He tries even to blackmail people which like to help him. Such a person has never learned something or have visited any school and cannot be a trusted business partner. With other words Krishna Varma did everything wrong what he could do wrong. Instead of asking for help and helping by the investigation he tried to blackmail everybody, which he found. With his try to blackmail others he destroyed every possibility that someone can help him.

If someone enters into a business, which does not bring him the expected profit, then he has the possibility to cancel the contract as soon as he gets it that he does not make any profit or he makes some losses. Blackmailing is not a legal way to correct his own wrong decision.

Now he tries to impress with big words, baseless threats and blackmailing legal working companies. He is guilty by himself that he got scammed. He simple did not do his homework by making a background check. The mentioned campaign is for centers free available because the broker gets paid from the client.

That is a pity that he got scammed, but he can only file a case against this one, whom he has paid or he has made a contract and not against someone else. If he has paid any upfront fee then this one, which has taken the money has no contract with the client and would have disappeared already. The campaign itself is available for call centers free of charge and does not require any payments. Brokers and customers from brokers are not getting entertained.

The client will not pay something for that what he is not guilty for the case that he got scammed by the man in the middle method. If Krishna Varma likes to lose more money in such a case, than he can file a court case at the local court of the client. The Supreme Court and the court in India are not responsible for the case he has a contract with an U.S. company. Such a threat shows that Krishna Varma anything from business law. It would be recommended that he consults a good local attorney before he attacks others for his own fails. A cheaper way would be to file a case at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC has for this purpose an Complaint Assistant, which can get found at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/.

It is in the US not illegal to hire offshore call centers for calling US customers. Would it be illegal then he liked to be a partner in crime of an illegal activity. He needs to provide victims and proves that called customers got cheated. That will be very difficult for an outsider.

Everybody, who made wrong investments, is guilty by himself. The business is hard and not a playground. Maybe Krishna Varma thinks that he is still playing in the sandpit. If Krishna Varma has made investments without having a valid contract with the client then he is guilty by himself because he did not prove the promises and trusted to the words of the scammer.

I got forwarded the following email with the comment from Robbie Middleton: “I have never seen this name Krishna Varma.”. As I only try to help by listing the scammers without any financial interest I have tried to get in contact with Krishna Varma and asked him to send me the email headers for finding out the scammers. He sent an answer how he felt betrayed, but he did not send one of the email headers, which makes it possible to find the man in the middle. That a man in the middle is exists is fact because he is not known from the client, but he can work.

There are other campaigns without any up-front fees available too. The demand determines the supply. They are promising and making orders in the hope to earn. The result is a big fail. It seems to be in India usual to simple disappear after failing in business. In any case it is a big crime to escape in this way from the responsibility. Such a behavior results in other countries in a prison sentence.

As much as I understand the anger of the call center owner Amith D'Silva that he lost money by this process as much he is guilty by himself too. They started to sell a product in January, which has not been available at this time. In such a case they tried to sell dreams. At this time the alarm bells have to ring already.

If I read the following LinkedIn Pulse article found at https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/beware-arima-app-store-which-fraud-company-amith-d-silva?trk=hb_ntf_MEGAPHONE_ARTICLE_POST, then I get the impression that not one of the participating parties had any knowledge how to build up a business. Even I'm not able to classify them as amateurs. Amateurs have more knowledge about a business than all the participating people including the call center owner. How a call center can promote a product under their own phone numbers and email addresses without any knowledhe how the product is working? How they can handle in such a case complaints from the customers if they are running into failures? The customers are calling this number back from which they got called.

It seems that even the app-store got programmed cheap, quick, dirty and without any knowledge of international standards. Nobody has made any tests of the ready product. An European court would decide in each case to negligent bankruptcy offense and the CEO must be personally liable, since the commercial due diligence has been violated.

I would like to give you a brief about my worst experience with Arima App Store and would recommend each and everyone to read. The Directors Mr. Pritesh Pradeep Saitwal and Ganesh Dhananjay Godse met Prachin Shirsat in the Train through a friend who were seeking a Call Center for their Project so known as Arima App Store around in September 2014. Prachin then introduces them to Mr. Amith D'Silva Proprietor Of Corona Borealis & Crux Services which is a Call Center based in Jesal Park, Bhayandar (East).

Mr. Ganesh Godse & Mr. Pritesh Saitwal from Arima App Store wanted the calling to be on $10 / Sale on which our company had disagreed since it was a new company and they wanted Leads to be generated and closed. We came upon an agreement on which $4 was decided per hour per seat upon which a mail was sent from Mr. Ganesh Godse on January 08, 2015. In the start Mr. Ganesh had promised the payment would be received within Net 7 days from the Invoice raising.

The process then started on January 15, 2015 and the website was first shown on February 18, 2015 upon which the website was very normal that no Software Developer would have put his application or software with a charge of INR 2000.00 for a lifetime. The script which was supposed to be given by Arima App Store where as it was not produced by Arima App Store. We prepared the Script for Arima App Store where no charges were charged to them and training was given from our end where as Information was only given by Mr. Ganesh Godse. Upon receiving complains from the clients who then told the agents working for Arima App Store that the website is not up to date. Please update the website and then give us a call. Complains were sent to Ganesh in Verbal as well as thru mails. Ganesh then informed us to stop the process on February 06, 2015 upon which we were informed that the first web designer has been changed and he is bringing into the picture a new web designer who will make the website up to date and one of the best. We had a meeting with the Web Designer upon which we discussed the pros and cons of the website. The Project was then put on hold. A call was made to Mr. Ganesh Godse on February 08,2015 to release the first payment. He then informed that he will arrange for the funds along with the February 2015 Payment. We never charged him for the days we kept our center closed due to his Website being updated. We helped him since he was new and was seeking support for his company to grow since he showed us decency.

The project then started on February 20, 2015 upon which the Website was satisfactory and the clients were ready to move ahead and invest but this time they wanted a mail explaining about the website and what are the features. We then informed Mr. Ganesh Godse to prepare the mails on which he prepared a mail with just these words as mentioned below

The clients then were getting irate on the agents who were calling and we also informed Mr. Ganesh Godse who used to come twice or thrice a week to the office that in this manner we cannot get business in this manner for his company. He then informed us that the web designer does not understand how to make the mail and for him he does not know since he is new and does not have a background about Marketing and Sales. He asked if we could help him and we did send him 6 different mail formats. But they were not published the way we had prepared them and the web designer who say they were professionals were engaged in different issues in the website they were facing due to the website for eg. the mobile number when saved in the database used to show us +1 and then the mobile number of India or some awkward numbers. When we asked Ganesh about the payment he said he will make arrangements on March 15, 2015 as he does not have the funds with him and he has put all the money in the website. The dates were then extended to March 22, 2015 then went to March 28, 2015. The reason he said was he had applied for a loan which was not sanctioned. Then Mr. Ganesh Godse from Arima App Stores came to the office on April 08, 2015 and informed us to stop the calling henceforth and he will try to make arrengements of the payments by April 22, 2015 but to be on a safer side he gave us Cheques Dated May 02, 2015. When asked him how he is making arrangements he said he has given a builder some 12 Lakhs as investment upon which the builder is giving him 9 Lakhs. When asked for the papers he said he will bring it and has never shown. He then called me on the April 30, 2015 requesting me that the funds have not been arranged and to inform all agents not to put the cheque. He said he will arrange the funds and has been giving us dates after dates. The final date was July 25, 2015 upon which he said he will transfer the amount by Saturday July 25, 2015 or Monday July 27, 2015. When I called him from my number he does not answer and when I called him from another number at 11am he picked up the phone and informed that he is on his way to transfer the funds. I informed him to answer the phone but neither he answers the phone neither does he call back. Then at 1pm I call him from another number and he answers the call when I ask him about the money he says give me 10mins and thereafter neither he picked up the calls neither reverted to the messages. A payment of nearly 7 Lakhs is pending. Mr. Ganesh Godse from Arima App Store is not trust worthy in dealing with. I am putting his cheques and also lodging a complain and have informed the same to the agents to do so. This is what we get in return for helping a person and supporting him setting up his company. I have Mails, Screenshots which after lodging a complain will pull him to court. I never wanted all this but since he is not reverting back to my messages, Phone Calls, Mails. The only option left is pull Arima App Store and specially Ganesh Godse to court. He will show you the grass in greener on the other side but when he takes you there it just a desert. Luckily no Investors or No Centers have taken his process otherwise they would have repented like how we are doing. Please be careful Of Arima App Store before investing a rupee. They give false commitments. If you want proofs I can submit.

It seems that he thinks that he need only to invent a call center campaign, post it at LinkedIn and he can earn money. Maybe he has been sleeping the last few months and did not get it, how scam is running and the most centers are already aware of it.

I know that it is not easy to get a genuine client. But with offers, everything is free for the client that is not selling, that is only gift giving. It is very simple: This one, which has hired him has to pay him. The call center makes the work why should the center pay for the work? The scammer proves with this kind of offer, that he does not have any contract with the client. If he likes to earn from the call center too, then he has to sell a setup fee to the client. This setup fee is normally the double high of the payment he likes to get, because the tax office like to get his part too and wire transfers are not free of charge. I don't think, that he will be able to sell this to his client, because his selling performance seems to be zero, especially if we take a look at his offer at LinkedIn Pulse:

A customer service job need to have access to customer data. The customer data are protected by law and the fines for breaking the law are high. Maybe he has been too lazy to read the article Data of 280,000 customers stolen: AT&T lost over $ 25 million before he has been inventing his campaign. For the case that he has not invented the campaign by himself, he cannot call himself to be a consultant in the outsourcing industry, because he knows nothing about this industry and his working value is zero. In such a case he needs to pay that he can learn the job. This is shown in his LinkedIn profile too. The only job, which he has done until now is:

I wonder myself why he did not learn something by doing his job during the 2 years and 4 months? Maybe he has been the most of the time in prison?

He is even so stupid and thinks that a training for a campaign of a client has a value for a call center, for what he can take money. It has only a value for the client, because the center is selling the clients product and the provided information cannot be used for another client. If the client itself cannot provide a training for his products, then the client has to provide all product information or hire a trainer and pay for it. That is the problem of the client, because he likes to outsource and the client is saving money by outsourcing,

The same is valid for the "outsourcing fee". If the consultant likes to get such a fee, then he has to get it from the client. The client likes to outsource and saving money by outsourcing,

A "professional fee"? That is a fee which the call center has to get, because that are the professionals. The "consultant" has already shown in his offer that he is nothing else than a bloody amateur and he does not understand something about his business.

 

That he is to lazy to learn something by doing is shown by his comments:

As the only way of income are his charges, the scammer is not able to change his "policy".

Charging a fee is a scam? C'mon wake up!!! There is nothing free in this world. We are running a business and we are not the client, we are working for our clients, we pay taxes, we pay our staffs and we are not a charity foundation. Thinking like that won't get you anything. So tell me now, is it a scam? You should be thankful being we are transparent here unlike people out there hiding the truth and at the end will charge you then that is a scam. Wake up Miguel, and you're not my friend by the way.

As the scammer sees, that he has no chance to sell his invented campaign, he is getting angry. That is the normal behavior of a scammer and I experience it nearly every day especially if a scammer likes to explain me that I'm wrong.
